From 19 to 27 August 2023, the World Championships in Athletics will take place in Budapest. And in the midst of all the athletes and officials, Jörg Walcher is working as a "sports chaplain". Does that mean the same as sports chaplain?
"We see ourselves as encouragers for the athletes. We are there as a confidant like an older brother or sister for the athletes," Walcher explains with regard to his job and that of his wife.
The combination of spiritual and physical aspects means the dream job par excellence for Jörg Walcher and his wife. Their daily work routine is varied. "No day is like the other," Walcher tells us.
The prayer meetings on this occasion are attended more than ever before. While the offer of "Beyond Gold" was laughed at 20 years ago, today it is also supported by team doctors and psychologists.
